I was working on removing a Trojan and no matter what I did, I couldn't get the windows update to start running. The machine was clean from several scans from Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security, Essentials and Spyware Doctor. Then I ran across this page.
Click Start -> Run
Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
Opened Windows update and it started working!
OS: Windows XP
Thank you! This worked like a charm. Not So much for the Microsoft KB on this error.
