How to enable Remote connections for Microsoft SQL Server 2008

So I found a great article that explains how to do this.  I'll briefly explain it and link to the post below.

Navigating to Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 -> Configuration Tools -> Sql Server Configuration Manager.

On the left hand side you will see SQL Server Network Configuration. Click the + and then select Protocols for (Your instance name).  On the right hand side, click TCP/IP and change it to enable -> Yes.  It will then ask you to restart your SQL Instance.

Here's how to do that.  How to restart Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service

If you've done all that and your instance isn't showing up?  Here's how to fix that.  Why can't I find the Microsoft SQL 2008 install I just installed?
